We’ve funded hundreds of training places for health professionals to promote best practice and improve the safety in the care of pregnant women and their unborn and newborn babies. From the technical ‘CTG Masterclass’ and ‘Homebirth Emergencies in the Community’ to ‘Human Factors’.
The charity has also funded a number of wireless fetal monitors and Dawes Redman fetal monitors for the Maternity Unit. As well as providing continuous monitoring of the health and safety of baby, the monitors allow mothers to move freely during every stage of labour enabling flexible birthing options, such as water births.
Due to having an emergency caesarean section with my first baby, I would not have been able to have the positive birth experience I had without it. Having experienced labour where no wireless monitors were available, I really know what a difference it made to be able to walk around/move during contractions rather than being stuck in a bed as I was the first time around.
I was thrilled when I learnt that it would be possible to use one in Jersey and I have spoken to other women here who have felt the same way. As such, it even made a big difference to my feelings/anxiety level prior to going into labour. Thank you so much for making it available to women like me.
