Pregnancy After Loss Support

For pregnancies after loss, we know that this can be a time of mixed emotions, a time filled with joy, fear and grief. It can be a worrying time, even when all is going well, and we can support you.

9 months is a long time to hold your breath:-

  • It’s ok if you can’t find the joy in your pregnancy
  • It’s ok if you are both excited and scared.
  • It’s ok if you’re still grieving.
  • It’s ok if you want to complain about your pregnancy symptoms.
  • It’s ok if you don’t want to wear the same maternity clothes
  • It’s natural to worry
  • It’s natural to be nervous about appointments and scans

You can:-

  • Just take it one step at a time. It can be overwhelming to think about getting to your due date so just focus on your next appointment. And the next, and the next.
  • Everyone is different in what they need – let your Maternity team know what you need to help get you through this pregnancy
  • Contact your maternity team if you’re concerned about your’s or your baby’s health at any time – they are there for you.
  • Let your Antenatal Class teacher know about your loss and let her know whether you want the others to know, or not.
  • Finds way to help ground yourself and reduce any anxiety – meditation, journalling, prayer, music, gentle exercise

We can also give you the excellent ‘Pregnancy After Loss’ book by well known author Zoe Clark-Coates and a children’s book about their sibling, for your new baby.

The charity also donates items to support families in the Lullaby Trust ‘Care of Next Infant’ (CONI) programme, a health-visitor led service for bereaved parents, which supports families before and after the birth of their new baby.
