RUNNER INFORMATION (Walker Information, General Information and FAQ below)

Longbeach Start Line

Seymour Sprint 10km – a unique charity trail run across Jersey’s Ramsar site, a spectacular inter-tidal zone. Bring trainers to get wet, a sense of fun and enjoy our race against the tide from Longbeach to the iconic Seymour Tower and back via Seymour slip.

Seymour Sprint 6km – still enjoying Jersey’s beautiful south-east coast, this beach run is from Longbeach to Seymour Slip and back (not to Seymour Tower).

Please note: the 10km and 6km run are pre-registration only. There is no sign-up on the day.

Closing date/time for registration is Friday 25th April 18:00.

REQUIREMENTS: 10km This event will be physically challenging – you will be running 10km across uneven coastal/ inter-tidal terrain, through the gullies. Due to the timing challenges with beating the tide, entrants must be able to run the distance in under 90 minutes. Be prepared to get wet feet!

CHILDREN: Children aged 10-15 running either 6km and 10km MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by an adult over the whole distance. Over 16s can run independently.

SIGN UP: M/F/Prefer Not to Say This event is an inclusive event and we welcome all runners. The registration page includes a ‘Prefer Not To Say’ option when choosing which race to enter. Please note that race results are split out by these categories so anyone selecting ‘Prefer Not to Say’ will be listed in a separate race time category.

GENERAL INFORMATION

DOGS: Dogs are welcome to attend, run or walk! Please keep dogs under control so as to not impede or inconvenience other runners, walkers, spectators or beach users.

LOVE JERSEY! The event takes place over part of the protected Jersey Ramsar site – whilst the run is relatively short, any waste (empty gel packs, water bottles etc) MUST be carried with you. Rubbish bins are available at the charity gazebo, Seymour Tower turning point and Longbeach car park. Walkers – please keep your rubbish with you and use a bin on your return.

DONATIONS AND SPONSORSHIP: If you would like to make an additional donation on the day or as part of your registration that would be very much appreciated. People are welcome to raise additional sponsorship if they wish which would be a great help towards our fundraising target. Your own fundraising page is set up automatically via your RaceNation entry.

In the event of poor weather making the event unsafe, Philip’s Footprints reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, well behaved dogs welcome. We do ask that dogs are kept on leads at the start of the event so that they don’t inconvenience other runners, walkers, spectators or beach users.

10km – Can I get lost or get caught by the tide?

No, the run is along a risk assessed, pre-set and marshalled route and is specifically timed for the tide’s lowest point. If you do not make the marshalled turn-around point at Seymour Tower within 40 minutes, the marshals along the route will flag you down to ensure you turn around.

Do runners cause any damage to the environment?

No. Whilst the bay is a RAMSAR site, runners follow a pre-set marshalled route which has been assessed by the States of Jersey Marine and Coastal Department. They are satisfied that the impact of runners over this environment is minimal. In previous years, the department has undertaken spot checks following the run and were satisfied there was no damage or rubbish left.

During the safety briefing we do make very clear that no rubbish is to be dropped on the beach during the run and do provide a bin at Seymour Tower turning point and the start/finish point to facilitate this.

T-shirts: In addition, mindful of the charity’s environmental footprint and to avoid waste, runner t-shirts are available to buy if you wish but are not included as standard in the ticket price.
