Every step really does make a difference! Funds raised help provide memory boxes to over 120 families each year who are facing the very earliest of losses through to babies and children up to 18 years. Together, we will raise awareness of Baby Loss Awareness Week – 9th – 15th October.
Huge thanks to our event sponsor Slomans for their ongoing support.
Flashing torches are provided for the duration of the walk – always a hit with the adults as well as children and every finisher gets a medal! Please remember to return the torches at the end so we can re-use them next year.
The route is pushchair and wheelchair friendly, with plenty of toilets along the way and a new water fountain opposite Sacred Heart Church near our marshal point, so bring your refillable water bottles!
Some will be walking in memory of their babies and children and ‘Walking in memory of’ stickers are available. As everyone walks to the finish the Fort Regent Dome is visible, lit in pink and blue in memory of all the babies and children who have gone too soon. (This year on 12th October the dome will be pink only, in recognition of ABC Jersey (Breast Cancer Support Jersey) 25th anniversary ball!)
Please take a tealight for the Wave of Light at 7pm on 15th October where all around the world people light a candle in memory of the babies who lit up our lives for such a short time.
A new Jersey Water water fountain has been installed near Sacred Heart Church at St Aubin – don’t forget your refillable water bottle.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where do I check-in/register?
Look for our gazebo and banners at Waterfront Gardens, above the Waterfront car park and where you exit the steps from the car park. You can start between 5pm – 7pm.
Can I keep my flashing torch
Sorry much as we’d love to be able to give them away, we re-use them each year as this is more environmentally friendly than one-use glow sticks. But you can collect your medal at the finish so you don’t go away empty handed!
I can’t make it on the night, can I still support you?
Yes – during October you can register for an ANYTIME ticket and walk when it suits you or, you can make a donation.
I can’t walk 10km, can I walk less?
Walk what you can – it’s the taking part that counts! Or if you can’t make the walk but still want to support us, why not make a donation.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Dogs are welcome, just make sure to bring them to the gazebo so we can tell them what a good boy or girl they are.
Keep an eye on our social media channels nearer the time for details on how to register.
